Learning to Sit w/ David First

“Learning to Sit” a prepared and Live visual mix, with natural sound and musical accompaniment. We will start with an awareness and grounding exercise and then engage in an interpretive meditation experience. Our goal is to have a shift in our experience, so that we become receptive, observant, balanced and aligned.

Peter Shapiro is a New York based Video Artist and Life Coach. The stories his dreamlike images capture, speak to the heart.
Starting out in the 70s, because of such limited media access and gear, making art, community and activism were inexorably intertwined. It has influenced his path ever since.
His visual projects and collaborations have been shown or staged at ArtVenice Biennale, the Museum of the City of New York, the Chelsea Art Museum, the United Nations, Lincoln Center, Warhol Museum, MOCA L.A., the Museum of Natural History,
the BBC, and performance spaces throughout New York City, and the world.
He likes documenting hidden moments, the dance of life in urban nature, things he sees while riding his bike.
His video pieces on environmental and social justice have been showcased on media sites as varied as: The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Village Voice, Huffington Post, Democracy Now, Discovery Networks, The Gothamist, “L” Magazine, ThinkProgress, bikesnob. and has been re-posted through-out the blogosphere. petershapiro.com
